Government Summer Fellowship

Hertog Fellow - Hertog Political Studies Program
Deadline to Apply: March 2, 2012

About the Program:
The Hertog Political Studies Program is a unique opportunity for rigorous study at the intersection of political theory and current public policy. In the heart of the nation's capital, Hertog Fellows study political life from ideas to action. By reading classic texts such as Aristotle's Politics, Machiavelli's Prince, and the documents of the American Founding, they examine the principles of justice. By discussing policy with those who have helped to forge it, they better understand how government and politics work. By discussing leadership with national figures such as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia, Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Jane Lute, and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer (in previous summers) they explore public service and the demands of political life. Finally, each student gains a greater understanding of the challenges their generation faces through discussion with outstanding peers from across the United States.
