Internship with Peace Action Fund

About Us:
The Peace Action Fund of New York State is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Its work is primarily carried out through the actions of Peace Action New York State. Peace Action is dedicated to promoting the nonviolent resolution of conflict, the abolition of nuclear weapons, halting the global spread of conventional arms, building a human rights culture, and supporting human needs instead of militarism. 

Internship Description:
PANYS is looking for progressive-minded student leaders to join in Peace Action’s student outreach campaign. The Student Organizer will lead efforts to identify, organize, and inspire students to TAKE ACTION about the issues they care about, and form a Peace Action student chapter on their campus.
  • Identify students and faculty interested in building a Peace Action student group on campus, and/or develop
    an official affiliation with an existing and relevant student club.
  • Build relationships with other community activists, like-minded organizations, and Peace Action members.
  • Lead students in participating in national and regional Peace Action campaigns, as well as independent
    student campaigns.
  • Contribute to Peace Action’s student blog and promote social advocacy campaigns through social media.
  • Approximately 10-15 hours per week. Student’s work will be conducted mainly outside PANYS office.
Qualifications:
  • Some experience in student organizing and advocacy preferred
  • Interest in peace, conflict resolution, and social justice issues.
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of utilizing social media to advance advocacy campaigns
  • Ability to work both independently and creatively
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $500/semester stipend
  • Available for academic credit, pending the college/university
